Kim Whytock - Personal Profile
President
Kim serves as the President and principal consulting resource of Kim Whytock & Associates Inc.
A tourism strategist, Kim has worked with Canadian and international travel suppliers, tour operators and destination marketing organizations to develop and market experiential travel opportunities and programs across Canada; experiences that respond to traveler and travel industry expectations, and are in harmony with sustainable tourism principles.
Kim Whytock is an innovator of: experience-oriented, economically viable, environmentally sound and culturally acceptable tourism; experiential travel product development and marketing; national park and cultural heritage place conservation and appreciation planning; stakeholder / community consultation and relationship building; sustainable expectation and demand management. He is an experienced leader of: sustainable tourism; natural and cultural heritage conservation and appreciation policy and programming; community and protected area land use planning and management; development and marketing of experiential travel programs and attractions; and development and management of tourism industry liaisons; demand management and responsive program planning.
Canada's National Parks and National Historic Sites
Over the course of the past thirty-five years, the majority as a member of Parks Canada, the Agency responsible for national parks and national historic sites across Canada, he has proven his management skills in leading: professional and technical teams and projects; volunteer private, non-profit and public sector teams and program initiatives; and public consultations and professional fora.
His career with Parks Canada has provided opportunities to work with the natural and cultural resources in all provinces and territories of Canada, and has lead to experience in identifying new national parks, developing and implementing park development and management plans for parks in western and Atlantic Canada. He also served as in the industry and tourism liaison for Parks Canada and led its establishment and development of national and regional external relations programs.
Canadian and International Tourism
Applying his extensive background in developing and marketing opportunities to experience Canada's national parks and national historic sites, he has worked with Canadian and international travel suppliers and tour operators and destination marketing organizations to develop and market experiential travel opportunities and programs across Canada.
Mr. Whytock led a Canadian Tourism Commission's task force in direction setting for the advancement of learning and experiential travel product development and its marketing; and he is a founding member of the Learning & Enrichment Travel Association of Canada. He has designed and directed a number of provincial "product development workshops" for their tourism industry members.
